Canton is an enterprise-focused network designed for financial institutions. By combining strict privacy guarantees with high interoperability, it enables traditional financial firms to tokenize assets and settle transactions securely while staying compliant with regulatory requirements.
Unlike typical public blockchains, transaction data is shared only among the parties involved and is not disclosed to third parties. This allows institutional participants to settle tokenized assets or deposit-based payments while meeting confidentiality obligations.
Canton provides a mechanism to precisely synchronize multiple independently operated chains (domains) within the network. This enables atomic settlement—eliminating mismatch risk such as one side of a swap being delivered while the other is not—for example, when exchanging “Bank A’s cash” for “Broker B’s bonds.”
Using Daml, a smart contract language tailored for financial workflows, Canton can encode complex legal rules and governance constraints directly in code. This supports highly reliable lifecycle management of assets and automation of compliance processes to institutional standards.
Backed by two companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market, we operate our nodes under a strict compliance and operational regime.
